In the July monthly practice newsletter, you’ll find ready-to-use Facebook posts, tweets and copy for your practice website or newsletter. Take them “word for word” and use them to educate your clients about the importance of yearly checkups for their pets.

This month, let’s talk to clients about preventive healthcare for the cardiovascular system.

Healthy Heart

You are the expert when it comes to keeping a patient’s heart healthy. During a patient’s physical exam, auscultation can catch murmurs or arrhythmias. You have the medical knowledge to diagnose not only cardiac disease, but also to successfully manage it for years with regular patient monitoring.

That’s why it’s time to check in with your clients and their pets. Contact all of your clients (especially those “inactive” clients you haven’t seen in 13-18 months) to schedule their pet’s yearly checkup today. Every patient will benefit from a cardiac evaluation as part of the annual exam.

Use the “Word For Word” section below to encourage your clients to make an appointment today and to keep connected with them on a regular basis.

“Partners for Healthy Pets has a good way to get you started,” says Dr. Kayann Stables, veterinary consultant to two companion animal practices in southern California. “The website gives you lots of ideas,” she says. She uses information from the Partners for Healthy Pets website to generate weekly pet health tips published in a local magazine and to make into signs to help educate clients.

Dr. Stables also helps the practices with their social media presence. She has found that the Partners for Healthy Pets website is especially valuable for monthly Facebook posts that are centered around one topic. For example, Dr. Stables utilized the Partners for Healthy Pets dental preventive care content to promote dental month in February. The number of dental prophylaxes performed increased from 2014, and she thinks Facebook contributed to this upturn.

Dr. Stables has seen firsthand how important Facebook is to a practice. “It’s a good way to communicate, to increase awareness to new and existing clients. It’s your sign on your door,” she says.
